The Employment and Equality Tribunal

The Employment and Equality Tribunal determines complaints of employment and equality rights that are alleged to have been infringed.

The Tribunal is a distinct and separate body from MIRS.

For more information on the Tribunal please see their website: Tribunals including their detailed information pack: Employment Tribunal.

It is important to note that, whilst parties can engage in conciliation before any complaint is lodged in the Tribunal, these discussions do not stop the time limit clock from running and the Tribunal enforces time limits strictly. Please see Appendix 2 of the Department for Enterprise’s Isle of Man Employment Rights: A Guide in our resources below, which sets out a list of complaints under the Employment Act 2006 and the relevant time limits.

Although MIRS can offer advice as to employment rights, we cannot provide legal advice or assist parties in completing Tribunal documentation due to our impartial role. Any questions relating to Tribunal procedure should be directed to the Clerk of the Tribunal at tribunals@gov.im
