Changes to the Employment Act - Work Permit Fees

In October 2015 the Employment Act was changed to make it unlawful for an employer to deduct the cost or to receive payment for a work permit fee from an employee. The change means that an employer must bear the full cost of the work permit fee.

The employee cannot be charged or be required to pay for a work permit even if there is a clause in the Written Statement of Terms and Conditions which say the fee will be deducted from wages. Anyone who needs any help amending the Written Statement can contact us for help.
